Abstract: The New York Times Company (NYTCo) has the 13th most trafficked family of internet sites (source: Nielsen Online, August 2008) including The New York Times <http://www.nytimes.com>, About.com <http://www.about.com>, Boston.com < http://www.boston.com> and 16 Regional Newspaper Web sites, along with several highly trafficked mobile sites. NYTCo keeps track of all requests to those sites collecting the anonymous data at a rate that currently amounts to over 100GB of uncompressed data per day. In order to manage this copious and dispersed data, NYTCo has decided to use the Amazon cloud service for storage and research analysis. During his talk, Pat will outline some of the challenges and successes NYTCo R&D has had with the cloud services and a successful analysis challenge.
